The decoration of the chapel, already adorned by Federico Brandani’s stuccoes at the end of the 1560s, was completed at the beginning of the ninth decade with the paintings requested by Francesco Maria II from Niccold Frangipane, for whom payments from 1680 to 1583 are documented. In the three canvases, whose curvature fits the wall of the chapel, the artist’s own characteristics emerge, combining models from Titian with an interest in Nordic painting.

Poche e vaghe le notizie sul pittore di questa tela e delle altre due presenti nella Cappellina per le quali furono dipinte. L'autore è di chiara appartenenza alla scuola di Tiziano di cui ripropone alcune scelte iconografiche.
