Held in the collection of the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche and catalogued as «Unknown, early 17th century», the drawing can be attributed with certainty to Antonio Cimatori, known as il Visacci, on the basis of close comparisons with his other drawings. Indeed, several recurring stylistic features of his manner are recognisable here: the use of his typical rapid, nervous line, capable of constructing forms through a rigid, angular pencil stroke, and the adoption of distinctive facial features in his figures, characterised by elongated, oval faces. The presence of the grid indicates that this sheet was at a very advanced stage of the design process, serving to transfer the image onto a larger surface.
